Learning English Takes Patience And Dedication

No matter how intelligent you are mastering any language takes a lot of patience and practice. It is not something that happens overnight. That is why people who are serious about learning English should try to expose themselves to the language for at least a few hours every day. Many linguists also recommend that students of language study abroad and take ESL classes. If one is interested in learning English, they must understand that reading is different from speaking, which is also different from listening to spoken word. A successful student must practice all three activities if they are to become fluent enough to carry on conversations with native speakers. A great way to practice listening and pronunciation skills is to watch American movies and television shows. Start by watching a few short clips of an educational program online. It will be even more helpful if the show has subtitles in your own language. Isolate a few phrases from the clip and replay them several times. If you can, watch how the person speaking forms the sounds with their mouth. Then, repeat the phrases over and over. Finally, add the words and phrases you practice to a master list you can refer to again and again. You should practice the words on your list until they are committed to memory. With the repetition of this exercise, you are practicing your listening, reading, and pronunciation skills. When learning English, it might also be helpful to purchase a book that teaches tenses and verbs. These books often contain practice exercises for the reader to complete after getting through each lesson or chapter. Complete these exercises and review each chapter several times. This, again, will help you commit the information to memory.Once you have at least an intermediate understanding of the language, it might be time to enroll in some ESL classes. The classroom experience gives you the chance to practice with other students and ask questions of an instructor that is bilingual. If you have the opportunity and the inclination, it is extremely beneficial to ESL classes in a country where they speak English. When you are, more or less, forced to speak the language and hear it all around you, it makes it that much easier to pick up words and put them into practice. This concept is called immersion, and it is probably the most fun and effective way to master a new language.

The Future of Computers: Major Innovations Of 2012 And What to Expect for 2013

The year 2012 was considered a revolutionary stage to the next era of computers. It was the year when mobile computing took to an even greater stage, all thanks to the iPad, the new iPhone 5 and the new line of smartphones from Samsung. A lot of people are saying that the iPad is the future of mobile computing, but I don’t think I have seen everything yet. For years, mankind is fixated on the weirdest machines invented by the human mind and most of these ideas can be seen through movies and television shows. For example, the mind-boggling hologram computer from the movie Minority Reports was just too awesome to look at. Imagine yourself going inside your computer room and you suddenly raise and wave your hands at a console that suddenly pops up in front of you. I say that’s completely amazing! Now that the year 2013 is here, should we expect new gadgets to appear in the market? That is most likely. When Apple launched the iCloud, it was already expected that a lot of Apple products would come out to take advantage of the service. The iCloud was developed in a way that people can save pictures, music and video files to some sort of “invisible server”, hence the term “iCloud”. When they get back home, they can access the iCloud through their computers and recover the files they sent through their mobile devices. This eliminates the need for a Micro SD card.If I remember correctly, it wasn’t a few years ago when mobile phones began having cameras and microscopic computer parts inside these devices that lets them store music, pictures and video files. Indeed, computers have come a long way from just being mere machines used in the military for “data collection and processing”. Now everyone has computers inside their homes, including senior citizens!Talking about home computing, Windows 8 has finally been launched within the last quarter of 2012. However, there is one particular feature that separates Windows 8 from the rest of Microsoft’s operating systems. Apparently, Windows 8 is made for touch-screen computers. Apparently, it’s an operating system made for tablets and specific touch-screen computers, like the Sony Vaio Tap 20. It’s revolutionary alright, since people will need to dig deep into their pockets to buy new tablets and touch-screen computers if ever they want to avail the Windows 8. Performance-wise, Microsoft promised that it’s more user-friendly compared to its predecessors. I haven’t had the chance to use the operating system yet, since I am actually using Windows XP on my computer. So what’s more to expect on 2013? Well, I can tell that Apple is building or developing the next iPad or iPhone as of this moment, so I guess that’s one more reason for tech-heads to get excited for this brand new year. Other than that, I can definitely agree that the age of computers will be here to stay for a very long time!
